Josh Grabs a Top Ten at Williams Grove Speedway
Mertztown, PA (8/28/10) . . .
This past Friday night Josh and the team headed to Williams Grove Speedway for the last of three scheduled URC races there. Before the evening got started, Josh participated in the kids nights activates in the speedways infield. Josh along with four other competitors signed autographs and spoke with the kids for a half hour before the evenings events got underway. Josh had a great time and enjoyed talking with the kids who come to watch the races.
The night’s event was a draw for starting positions as it was a challenge event with the 358 competitors at Williams Grove. Josh drew a high number, which forced him to start eight in his eight lap heat event out of eleven cars. The first start saw a crash at the drop of the green flag that Josh was able to avoid and was set for the restart. Josh had an awesome heat race event racing his way from eight to third when the caution was displayed again. After a few attempts Josh passed the second place car and was setting his sights on the leader who had gained at least a half of straightaway lead, but with the laps winding down Josh was unable to eliminate the deficit to challenge for the lead.
With Josh qualifying second in the third heat race event, he was granted a seventh place starting position in the nights feature event. Josh had a good start to the feature and found himself in the fourth position behind three competitors who race Williams Grove on a weekly basis. However as the race went on and the track went away, Josh lost a few positions and finished in the seventh position. Out of the top seven, Josh was the second regular URC car to finish the race, the top five racers were all Williams Grove 410 or 358 regulars who strapped in a 360 for the nights events.
Josh also closed the gap on the third place point’s position, due to a competitor’s tough luck with engine problems. He now sits just fifty-three points out of third place and is all but 150 points ahead of the fifth place competitor.
