Josh Races from Eight to Second at Delmar
October 1 2011; Mertztown, PA . . .
The last regular race of the 2011 season was held at Delaware International Speedway on Saturday night. Josh was slated to start sixth in his heat race. Josh had a decent start and was able to grab third at the drop of the green flag, but a tough battle with the second place car allowed the fourth place car to get around both of them. However after a few laps Josh finally had it figured out where the other car was going to try and run in and made the pass to cross the line in third.
Due to his second place finish at Georgetown, Josh should not have started better than eleventh in the feature Saturday night, but due to cars who were not at the Georgetown race, Josh was able to start in the eight position. At the drop of the green, Josh was able to make a few passes before the first caution came out on lap one. He then went on to pass another car before another caution on lap two, which the field seemed frozen on that lap for a while. Once they finally got started again, Josh was able to get by the third place car and set his sights on the second place car. On lap twelve Josh made the pass for second and started chasing down the leader who had a comfortable lead at this time. Racing through lap traffic, Josh was able to start gaining on the first place car and coming into turns three and four for the checkered flag, Josh was within striking distance of challenging for the lead, but ran out of time in the twenty-five lap main event.
The next event will be held at Grandview Speedway, Josh’s home track. This event will be features only and the last points race for URC. Josh is currently in the third position in drivers points.
