Rain Wins on a Long Saturday Night at Rolling Wheels

Elbridge, NY (10/6/07) . . .

On Saturday Josh and the team make a trip up to Rolling Wheels Speedway in Elbridge, NY for the sprint challenge at the wheels.  The team arrived to the track around 2:30 p.m., just in time for a strong thunderstorm that moved through the area.  Once the storm was out of the area, track crews started working in the track for the nights race.  Around 8:00 p.m. another brief shower rolled through the area, but they were still able to have the track ready for racing at 9:00 p.m.

In a field of sixty-seven sprinters, Josh picked a high number for the draw resulting in a 9th place starting position in the first heat.  With six heat races total, only the top three were to advance to the feature event.  Josh had a great run in his heat race, passing a total of 4 cars to grab a 5th place finish.  It however did not lock him into the A-main, but it did give him a 3rd place start position for the B-main, which they would have taken the top two.  Just as Josh’s B-main was about to hit the track another storm rolled through, but this one didn’t leave.  Around 1:00 a.m. the track officials postponed the race until Sunday night at 7:30.  Due to work obligations on Monday and with the track being four hours away from home, the team made the trip home Saturday night, not able to make it back for the remainder of Sunday’s race.  Josh and the team were very disappointed as they felt they had a good shot at making the A-main.  The remained of the race was held on Sunday, but only thirty of the sixty-seven sprinters returned for the show.
