A Trip to the Carolina’s treat Josh to Two Top 5 Finishes

Fayetteville, NC (7/14/2007) . . .

After a busy month of June, Josh and the team had a week and a half break before a ten hour trip down to South Carolina, to race with the ASCS Southern tour at Mileback Speedway on Friday night.  Saturday night, the team made the trip from South Carolina up to North Carolina to make an appearance at Fayetteville Motor Speedway, also sanctioned by the ASCS Southern tour.

Friday night Josh started in the 2nd position of the second heat race for the ASCS sprint series.  At the initial start of the race, Josh jumped out to an early lead, only to have the start brought back because of a flip in turn 1, which brought the group back to an original restart.  At the second drop of the green, Josh jumped out once again to the lead and kept it this time.  Josh then completed the eight lap heat race in the 1st position.  Winning his heat race and passing a car gave Josh the most passing points for the night, starting him on the pole position of the feature.  On the start the second place car did not get started immediately and the start was called back, prompting a second start.  The second start however did not suit Josh as well as the 2nd and 4th place cars found grip on the outside of the track and got a jump on Josh.  Josh then jumped into the 3rd position, which is were he stayed for the remainder of the feature event.

Saturday night found Josh and the team at Fayetteville Motor Speedway in Fayetteville, NC.  Josh started his heat race in the 1st position, but the outside pole sitter, got a jump on Josh at the start of the race.  Josh then dropped back to 2nd, but in the closing laps of the race came up to challenge the 1st place car, but fell short.  Finishing 2nd in the heat race event, gave Josh a 5th place starting position in the feature.  Seeming to be common fashion of the last nights race, the initial start of the feature was also called back for the 4th place car spinning off of turn two.  They yet again tried a second start to the feature even and succeeded.  Josh maintained his 5th place starting position through out much of the race, but eventually took over the 4th spot with about five laps remaining.  Josh raced towards the 3rd place car, but with the field being stretched out already and only a limited number of laps left, Josh settled for a 4th place finish.
