Josh Earns a 3rd Place Finish

Brasstown, NC (9/1/07) . . .

Thursday night Josh and the Weller Racing Team, made the long trip down to Gray Court, SC for a 2 race weekend. Josh and the team arrived early Friday at the track, and it was a beautiful day. However, that all changed around 5:00 when it was time to get the cars ready to go racing. Rains hit the speedway shortly after the pit gates opened and lasted for about 1 ½ hours, forcing the track to cancel the evening's event. So Josh and the crew loaded up the car, and set out for Saturday's destination.

Saturday's weather thankfully held out and Josh got to race at Tri County Speedway in Brasstown, NC. This is the track where Josh earned his first career win at and where he will also go down in the record books as the first ever sprint feature winner. The #63 was slated to start in the 6th position of the heat race, but a late mechanical failure made the 2nd place start go to the rear, moving Josh up to the 4th position. At the drop of the green Josh was off to a great start following 2nd place starter Kenny Adams, past the leader, giving Josh 2nd place after turns one and two. Josh maintained his 2nd place heat spot for the remainder of the race.

As feature time rolled around, Josh was to start in the 4th position. Josh got off to a good start, but had a lengthy battle with the 3rd place car, that let the leader and the 2nd place car get about half a straight away lead. Once Josh finally made the pass on the 3rd place car, time was running out for him to make a bid for the lead. As he started gaining ground on the 2nd place car, the checkered flag fell and Josh was credited with a 3rd place finish.
