Josh Grabs Another Top 15 at Delaware

Delmar, DE (9/22/07) . . .

After two weekends off, Josh and the Weller Racing Team were back in action.  On Saturday afternoon the team made the trek down to Delaware International Speedway in Delmar, DE.

Once again because of missing the last URC race, Josh was forced to start in the 9th place in his eight lap heat race.  Josh had a decent start, but was held up by slower cars who had started in front of him in the heat race.  Around lap six Josh finally rid himself of one of the slower cars to take over the 7th position, (six qualify), but found himself out of laps to chase down the 6th place car.  This then gave Josh a 3rd place starting spot in the B-Main.  On the initial start of the race, the leader jumped the start and it was called back.  Following URC rules, the leader was placed back one row into the 3rd position, which then moved Josh to the front row.  The next start was a keeper and Josh ran away with the B-Main win, he had almost a full straight away led on the 2nd place car.

A B-Main win placed Josh in the 19th starting position for the feature event.  Before one lap was in, in the feature the yellow was thrown for a wreck in the first turn.  They then had a complete restart and the race went green for twenty-one laps.  Josh had a great run going and found himself in the 12th position when the yellow was displayed on lap twenty-one.  On the restart Josh got a great run on the 11th place car and completed the pass and was setting his sights on the 10th place runner when the caution was again displayed on lap twenty-four.  However on this restart Josh was the victim of scoring uncertainties and restarted in the 14th position.  On the restart Josh made the best of his last lap and passed two more cars giving him a 12th place finish.  However due to post race tech inspections, Josh was credited with an 11th place finish due to another driver’s unfortunate night.
